Ramaphosa's reshuffle is a move in the right direction
The new president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa used his cabinet reshuffle to simultaneously shore up a dire, uninspiring government and prop up his own political power.Nevertheless, the reshuffle saw sweeping changes to what was effectively former president Jacob Zuma's cabinet. It had to be-it was critical for Ramaphosa to stamp his authority so Ministers who account to him could understand that they are indeed serving at his pleasure. It is a delicate balance, which he described as "Transitional", rather than a compromise. It was always going to be difficult to appoint ethical, completely untainted indivisuals from the festering mess which the ANC has became after a decade under his predecessor.
It was clear from the onset that Ramaphosa would not have a free hand during his stint as ANC president, particularly at this early stage — the party’s national conference was held less than three months ago.The "unity" leitmotif which emerged at the ANC’s conference runs thick through his choices. An extension of this theme is the 2019 election.
The ANC cannot afford another split and it has experienced one in the wake of a former president’s axing from the state — the Congress of the People was formed after Thabo Mbeki’s axing. Ramaphosa cannot be putting out factional fires in the party in the run-up to a national election and as he has to begin building his own legacy.
To sum it up, he set Nhlanhla Nene as the National treasury and Pravin Gordhan set to head up Public enterprices. Mondli Gungubele as deputy finance minister was also a solid choice. What Ramaphosa has done is a move to a right direction. This is my opinion. He chose his trusted cabinet so that one day when things go wrong he would have no one to blame. I like what he has done for the safety of our country (South Africa). Bringing Gordhan back to business department was a brilliant decision from the president as he is very suited by business related matters.

I strongly agree, president Ramaphosa has made a bald move and a trustworthy one. I'm heavily supporting every decision that our president proposes.
ReplyDeleteI believe in Mr Ramaphosa and I think he is going to take this country forward, so I support his decisions.
ReplyDeleteWhen l look at Ramaphosa l see only one thing or two, Slowly Slowly. The voters in 2019 must not give ANC majority votes, this is the only thing that will make this party to respect SA people, and move faster to work and do their job when govern. When is Ramaphosa going to get on with his job, does he realise that the people of SA are tired of waiting ?
ReplyDeleteI hate the fact that these guys are playing with our country, first it Zuma who made reshuffle now its Ramaphosa the only man I trusted,,,WHEEE!!! where is South Africa going? as for me,,, I GIVE UP...
You right Lutho ANC members are all corrupt there is no change which will come with Ramaposa. We really tired of the ANC corrupt members, I pray that 2019 elections take the ANC out. All it knows is to claim that they fought for freedom in this country ,ok are we really free? No we still under economic suppression we need economic freedom in South Africa
